There will be accommodation for 35 members of racing Staff. This will be made up of 30 rooms in the Chichester Park Hotel (2.5 miles/7 mins from the racecourse stables) and 5 rooms in the usual stables accommodation. Rooms will be allocated to those who are travelling the furthest distance to Goodwood first, if Newmarket then falls within that bracket it will be on a first come first served basis. Rooms will be fully deep cleaned between occupants. We will run a regular shuttle bus from the hotel to the stables. It would be helpful if trainers with runners on multiple days and staying overnight could, where possible, retain the same staff at Goodwood to help with reducing the number of deep cleans etc required.
Further details on booking and arrival arrangements will be available on the BHA Racing Admin site once the going reports are live.
We will provide a free breakfast roll and tea/coffee etc at Goodwood for all of those staying overnight and any other stable staff who arrive while breakfast is being served. Everyone will receive a lunch bag. There will be provision of a free evening meal & tea/coffee/water at Goodwood for all of those staying overnight and any stable staff still on site when the canteen opens. Food will be served through the window in takeaway boxes with a much reduced offering. A marquee covering will be erected outside the canteen to allow an undercover seating area. There will be no option to purchase crisps/chocolate/fizzy drinks etc. The bar will not be open.
The canteen will not be open all day and, unfortunately, there will not be flexibility on canteen timings (ie if staff arrive after the canteen has closed for breakfast then there will be no breakfast available). I realise this is not ideal but I’m afraid it is what we have to work with. Breakfast will be 7-10am daily Tues-Sat and evening meals will be served 5-9pm daily Mon-Sat.
We would ask, please, that your members help us wherever possible and are patient with these new arrangements as they are also new to us. If there are issues, please could your members discuss them with us at the earliest opportunity (and not take directly to social media) so that we can attempt rectify them as soon as possible. We are always open to suggestions on how we can improve or simplify things and will endeavour to implement them where and if possible.
